Belgrade
The capital of Serbia – Belgrade is one of the oldest cities in Europe. This “white city” is the only capital built on the mouth of the two rivers, the place where the Danube and Sava “kiss”. The old world culture, which simultaneously evokes a time-limited Yugoslavia from the time of communism and a new world cradle of cold energy, besides which Belgrade still maintained a warm heart.
Belgrade is a city that never sleeps and has become a symbol of good conduct thanks to rafts that are located on the rivers of this city, where entertainment and good entertainment do not stop until morning, alternative music clubs, restaurants, theaters, and the squad of Skadarlija is the city where music and song can be heard by dawn. The grandiose cafes of Knez Mihajlova, a lively pedestrian boulevard, are surrounded by historic buildings all the way to the ancient Belgrade fortress Kalemegdan. Belgrade is a modern European city with about 1.7 million inhabitants, the administrative, political and cultural center of Serbia and only the heart of the old Yugoslavia.
The place where Belgrade today is located has been inhabited since ancient times. One of the settlements of this town – Vinča, is home to the prehistoric culture of the same name. Here today is an archaeological site as created for all the lovers of history and ancient past.
After this period, many lived in this area – the Celts gave the city the name Singidunum, and as “white city” they were baptized by the Slavs.
Since then, it has been called by many names – Alba Bulgariae, Alabanandor, Nandoralba, Nandorfeuvre, Griechisch Weissenburg, Alba Graeca, Castelbiancho … but the name of the fortress – a city that has sustained many blows and looks “white”, seen from the river and the Pannonian Plain to this day, has remained as Belgrade.
Belgrade was destroyed almost 140 times by the wars, and the peoples who lived here and all the armies that had left the city of Belgrade in the past left a great trail that dislodged today’s Kalemegdan and the magnificent Victory, the Stambol Gate, the Old Palace, impress the visitors.
This city is constantly growing, and in time it has moved to the other side of the Sava River and became “new”. New Belgrade, which is also the business center of Serbia. It is home to numerous international companies, large shopping centers, as well as the Belgrade Arena – the biggest arena of the Balkans, which has already hosted world-famous events such as Eurovision, Universiade, Davis Cup…
In Belgrade, there is also an important monument – House of flowers. Here, Josip Broz Tito, the former president of Yugoslavia and the person who marked the second half of the 20th century in this region, was buried here. Whether because of nostalgia or curiosity, this monument attracts a large number of tourists from the region and the whole world.

How to get to the capital of Serbia?
It is possible to reach Belgrade by plane, train, bus, car, and boat.
Many foreign airlines maintain regular flights from Belgrade to numerous world destinations, from the airport “Nikola Tesla”.
Regular bus lines connect Belgrade with all parts of Serbia. There are also many international bus lines that travel to neighboring countries and most European countries.
If you travel to Belgrade by car, then follow the European roads E-70 and E-75, because this city is located on the crossroads of these roads.
A ramified network of railways connects Belgrade with all parts of Europe and many parts of Serbia by day and night trains.
